Visit the lab at the Centre for Palaeogenetics at Stockholm University and discover the research that is reshaping our understanding of human and animal prehistory.
During Nobel Calling Stockholm, researchers at the Centre for Palaeogenetics open the doors to their laboratory. Here, you’ll learn how they have mapped the genes of million-year-old mammoths and studied the extinct cave lion Spartak.
By analyzing ancient human DNA, the researchers have traced migration patterns in the Nordic region during the Stone Age and Viking Age –findings that have gained significant international attention. They also study DNA preserved in sediments to reveal how ecosystems have changed throughout history.
