The Nobel Prize Museum is constantly working to make the museum more accessible to people with various forms of disabilities.

On this page, you will find practical information about accessibility at the museum, our facilities, and the different types of resources available during your visit.

Facilities

All areas of the museum are accessible for wheelchairs, including exhibitions, film room, and the bistro. The museum’s film room and temporary exhibition have wall-to-wall carpeting.

Entrance

The accessible entrance is located at the back of the building, with access from Storkyrkan’s courtyard, from Slottsbacken. There is an intercom at the entrance. Press the button and the doors will automatically open (if not, please call the entrance at +468-534 818 10).

The door width is 94 cm.

Accessibility

For visitors with impaired vision, it is best to visit the museum with a companion. There are no stairs in the exhibition areas. There are some thresholds and small uneven areas on the floor.

Wheelchairs

The museum has 2 wheelchairs available for loan.

Fire alarm

The museum has a visual fire alarm for the hearing impaired.

Hearing loop

The museum does not have a hearing loop.

Companion/personal assistant

Entry is free for escorting individuals and personal assistants accompanying disabled visitors to the museum.

Guide dogs

Only guide dogs are allowed in the museum, no other animals.

Toilet

There is a toilet adapted for people with various mobility impairments. It is accessible from both the right and left sides and has a door width of 88 cm.

Means of assistance

Magnifying glasses and flashlights are available for loan at the entrance.

Film subtitles

In the museum’s film room, films about Nobel Prize laureates are shown. Films with Swedish audio are subtitled in English, and films with English audio are subtitled in Swedish. Special subtitles for the hearing impaired are not available.

Taxi

If you need to call a taxi, you are welcome to borrow the phone at the main entrance. Ask the staff for assistance.

Emergency exits

The accessible entrance at the back of the museum serves as an emergency exit for wheelchair users.

Parking

Parking for disabled visitors is available close to the museum’s accessible entrance, at the corner of Källargränd 1/Slottsbacken.
