Choosing a Nobel Prize laureate in literature is no easy task. The Nobel Committee of the Swedish Academy searches among the foremost contemporary authors, and their choice is often surprising, sometimes criticized, and always interesting.

Welcome to a conversation where members of the Academy share how they have thought, discussed, and ultimately agreed on who will be awarded this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature. The discussion will cover this year’s laureate, and the members will also share their top reading recommendations.

During the evening, actor and director Sofia Rönnegård reads selected texts by the laureate. Participating in the conversation are several – for now, secret – members of the Swedish Academy’s Nobel Committee. The discussion is moderated by Carin Klaesson from the Nobel Prize Museum.

Tickets include a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate the new Nobel Prize in Literature. A non-alcoholic option is available. Come and mingle with fellow literature enthusiasts from 17:00.

For those who wish to delve deeper, there is a ticket option which includes a special guided tour of the Nobel Prize Museum’s exhibitions, focusing on the Nobel Prize in Literature. The tour begins at 16:30 in the museum, located in the same building as the Swedish Academy.
