Welcome to a conversation about Nobel Prize laureate Ernest Hemingway’s literary work and his struggle with inner demons, as Hemingway expert Curtis DeBerg meets Carin Klaesson from the Nobel Prize Museum for a conversation.
Hemingway is a legendary author who created dramatic scenes both in literature and in real life. In 1954, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his “powerful and pioneering mastery of the art of narrative, most recently demonstrated in The Old Man and the Sea.“
During the programme, Curtis DeBerg will hand over an object from the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Minnesota, where Hemingway was treated for a time. The donation contains what are believed to be Hemingway’s final written words, a dedication that reflects confidence and hope, just weeks before his death.
The evening concludes with a reading of parts from The Old Man and the Sea by actor Isa Aouifia.
