Is poetry really necessary in our time? Listen to a conversation between Anders Olsson and Jila Mossaed of the Swedish Academy, and Carin Klaesson from the Nobel Prize Museum. During the evening, they highlight Nobel Prize laureates whose poetry has both provoked and comforted – offering glimpses into what it means to be human.
Actor Helena Bergström gives voice to Nobel Prize awarded poets such as Tomas Tranströmer and Louise Glück in a live reading. The evening takes its starting point in the new edition of Kjell Espmark’s book Litteraturpriset – 120 år med Nobels uppdrag (The Nobel Prize in literature – 120 years with Nobel’s mission)
Perhaps during the evening, you too will feel, like the poet and Nobel Prize laureate Wisława Szymborska;
I prefer the absurdity of writing poems
Wislawa Szymborska
to the absurdity of not writing poems.
