Doctors Without Borders was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. Using the prize money, a campaign was launched to improve access to essential medicines, under the slogan “medicines should not be a luxury!”

Today, 20 years later, students from Beckmans College of Design have created luxury jewelry inspired by the shapes of medicines. The initiative aims to draw further attention to the fact that millions of people around the world still die because life-saving medicines are too expensive.

The jewelry collection—consisting of three necklaces, three pairs of earrings, a hair clip, and a ring, all cast in pewter and shaped like medicines—was on display at the museum from 5 November to 1 December 2019.
