From quantum dots to the development of new vaccines. From snapshots of electrons in motion to drama that gives voice to the unspeakable.
The 2023 Nobel Prizes offered new perspectives on the world and inspired students at Beckmans College of Design to create fashion interpretations.

In the exhibition Nobel Creations 2023, students explored a wide range of themes. They interpreted mRNA vaccines, attoseconds, semiconductor nanoparticles, Jon Fosse’s literary work, research on women’s conditions in the labor market, and the fight against the oppression of women in Iran. The result was six powerful fashion creations.

The Nobel Prize in Physics was interpreted by Arvid Engman and Justin Ekström.
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry by Unni Burman, Nicke Salomonsson, and Amanda Heed.
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine by Klara Stålenbring and Otto Bäccman.
The Nobel Prize in Literature by Hanna Rothstein and Natalie Gurley.
The Nobel Peace Prize by Julia Broscheit and Mar Porrero Coll.
The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel by Natalie Lindén and Felicia Sellman.

A common thread between the Nobel Prize Laureates’ work and the students’ creations is the desire to find new ways of seeing the world and the courage to question established methods and theories — to use new knowledge to form new insights, whether scientific or artistic.

Since 2011, the Fashion Program at Beckmans College of Design has annually created free interpretations of the Nobel Prizes.
