Nobel Prize Teacher Summit 2024

Minding the brain

On 4 October 2024, teachers from over thirty countries gathered in Stockholm to deep dive into the universe of the human brain. Throughout the day, Nobel Prize laureates, scientists, psychologists, and educators offered various perspectives on the theme.

Minding the brain

Through nerve fibres, memories, associations, and feelings we navigate and live our lives. In recent decades, scientists have gained remarkable insights in unravelling the mysteries of the human brain and the mind.

How does the brain work? This is a question that has occupied scientists for centuries. In recent decades, there have been remarkable breakthroughs in mapping and furthering our understanding of the human mind. Yet, among scientists there is consensus: Our brain remains vastly unexplored.

How does learning actually occur? Can we train our brains to keep pace with an ever-evolving society? How do our minds create our sense of self? Will future AI scientists be able to fully emulate our brain? And why we can map the entire solar system, yet are not able to solve conflicts among nations?

Recent advances present educators with a pivotal question: Have schools and educational systems been able to keep up? Are our classrooms adapted to the latest scientific discoveries?

This is the core idea of this year’s Nobel Prize Teacher Summit – when forming a learning environment, we must mind the brain. Join Nobel Prize laureates, top scientists, and fellow teachers from more than thirty countries and attend this unique, yearly event. Groundbreaking ideas, inspiring insights, unforgettable meetings and non-googleable stories will all be included.
