In GLOW, the lunar phases around the Earth are portrayed in a way that allows the audience to play with, control, and interact with the moon’s light and movements. Inspired by the moon as a nocturnal guiding star, the work embodies its timeless allure.
GLOW connects to the work of author Yasunari Kawabata (Nobel Prize in literature 1968). In his Nobel Prize lecture Kawabata spoke about the image of the moon in Japanese literature and how the light of the moon can be seen as the light of the heart. With GLOW, Amigo & Amigo makes that metaphor tangible. As the audience interacts with the work, their touch becomes the light itself.
