HEXX is a hexagon-based light installation that pays homage to the symmetry and patterns found in nature. The shapes are especially inspired by bees and beehives.

Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2014 “for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes which has enabled bright and energy-saving white light sources”. In HEXX the creative studio Calidos takes this efficient Nobel Prize awarded invention and transforms the technology into an interactive sculpture.
