Tucked in the Nobel Prize Museum courtyard, Moments of Peace is a light and sound installation inviting visitors to sit and listen to excerpts from speeches by Nobel Peace Prize laureates, accompanied by newly composed music.
The speeches, selected by the artist Johan Stohne, are primarily from the time of the First and Second World Wars. They have been chosen for their powerful relevance to today’s global situation. Interwoven with the voices of the laureates, music echoes historical tones, creating a bridge between past and present. As each of the ten illuminated benches plays a unique combination of voice and sound, the entire courtyard becomes a shared soundscape of reflection and hope.
The benches form both a literal and symbolic space for rest, thought, and dialogue. Moments of Peace encourage visitors to slow down, to listen, and to connect with words and melodies calling for peace across time. The installation transforms the urban environment into a contemplative sanctuary amidst the city noise.
