The artist Johan Thurfjell is inspired by the mission set out in Alfred Nobel’s will ‘reward the discoveries that have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind’.

The candle becomes a beacon to this purpose. The burning flame acts as an activator of memory, the light becomes a substitute for the person or people you want to remember or give extra consideration to.

The light is projected large on a wall in the Old Town, visible to all who pass by.
