The title Lotus Pods refers to when Nobel Peace Prize laureate Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo quoted another laureate Rabindranath Tagore (literature 1913) in his Nobel lecture: ”Youth, as a Lotus flower, flourishes just once in life”. Ximenes Belo added “Do not let it wither on the way.”
Becoming curious again is a way to stay young and Lotus Pods invites you to do just this. But, it requires courage to step outside your comfort zone.
The artwork offers a bodily experience that most adults only know from their childhood. An experience of excitement, temporary disorientation and maybe the tension of experiencing something unknown.
