The artistic duo SMASH consists of Ash and Veronica Reed. The two met twelve years ago on these stairs, by the very same building where Love at First Sight is displayed. Their encounter, against all odds, led to a life partnership and artistic collaboration.

Love at First Sight is inspired by Nobel Prize laureate Wisława Szymborska’s poem with the same title. The poem reflects on the transformative power of chance encounters.

About the artist

Artist duo SMASH works by blending light, architecture, and narrative to create immersive experiences. Their projection mapping technique allows each scene to unfold like visual poetry.

The duo’s journey into light art began with their fascination for 3D design and animation. Their innovative use of 3D scanning to turn buildings into living canvases led them to experiment with projection mapping, bridging the physical and digital worlds.

Light art allows us to tell stories in a way that feels both intimate and surreal, using light as a medium to connect people with their surroundings in unexpected ways. We often use these projects to push ourselves and our creative expression and experiment with new techniques and technologies.
