Nobel Prize laureate Andrei Sakharov (1921–1989) was the successful nuclear physicist who came to criticize the very system that had elevated him. Under constant surveillance, he persisted in his criticism of the lack of human rights and undemocratic governance. He was celebrated and honored, but also criticized — and monitored.
Welcome to the opening of the exhibition Sakharov under surveillance. The exhibition features an installation consisting of preserved surveillance footage in which the Soviet security police, the KGB, tracked Sakharov’s every move.
Together with journalist Anna Narinskaya and historian Klas-Göran Karlsson, Nobel Prize Museum’s Carin Klaesson discusses the world of Andrei Sakharov.
