Ocean Us

Husbygårdsskolan class 5A and 5C

Strömparterren | Free admission

Ocean Us offers a window into the hidden world beneath the ocean’s surface, seen through the imagination of children. Marine organisms, coral reefs, and underwater environments created by students become part of a digital ecosystem displayed in six interlinked digital aquariums.

Through light, movement, and digital animation, the installation transforms the students’ artistic interpretations into a living underwater world. Ocean Us celebrates curiosity, interconnectedness, and our shared relationship with the oceans and the life they sustain.

The installation is inspired by the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, awarded jointly to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Al Gore for their efforts to build and disseminate knowledge about human-induced climate change and to lay the foundations for the actions needed to address it.

During a series of workshops held throughout the autumn, students at Husbygårdsskolan has explored the oceans, climate change, biodiversity, and the impact of human activity on marine ecosystems. Their discoveries and creative interpretations form the foundation of the artwork, highlighting both the beauty and fragility of the underwater world.

In latin, oceanus [oːˈke.a.nʊs] translates to ocean.
