To the artwork CONNECTED, artists Réka Magyar and Péter Koros were inspired by the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1906 that was awarded to Camillo Golgi and Santiago Ramón y Cajal in recognition for their work on the structure of the nervous system.

By developing methods that could colour and highlight its key components, Golgi and Cajal allowed the anatomy of the nervous system to be observed and documented in precise detail.

This is showcased in CONNECTED through the ways the two giant inflatable neuron cells communicate, send, and receive colour signals from each other.

The artwork was produced for the Zsolnay Light Festival in cooperation with the University of Pécs Medical School in Hungary, 2021.
